Skull X-rays: Parietal foramina enlarged or cranium bifidum (Catlin mark)

 

Parietal foramina are normal openings towards the posterior and medial part of the parietal bones through which the emissary veins pass (see photo).  These can remain large because of deficient ossification.  In many cases a suture perpendicular to the saggital suture divides much of the parietal bones, termed "cranium bifidum".
