Dr. Marc Patterson notes that lipodystrophy means abnormal metabolism of fatty tissues. It can include lipoatrophy, lipohypertrophy, or both. Lipohypertrophy can include fusiform appearance of the digits or a cellulite appearance of skin over the trunk.
